Hey, whatcha reading? 2

This month, I've asked my friend Jessica about what she's reading.

1. What book(s) are you currently reading?

Currently, I'm reading Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras (2018, Zebra Shout) which is the second book in the Matched to Perfection series.

2. How far along in the book are you?

I'm towards the end since I feel a resolution coming on. My Kindle says I'm at 82%.

3. What is the book about?

This book is about the second sister in a Puerto Rican family of three sisters. This is a contemporary romance about Rosa's complicated romantic predicament.

4. What drew you to reading this book?

I prefer reading contemporary romances versus historical romances, so when you recommended this series and author, I gave it a try (Sunflower: woot woot!). The first book was about a Puerto Rican dance teacher and since I am a Puerto Rican dance teacher I was immediately intrigued. I loved Book 1 (Her Perfect Partner) and through that got to know a little bit about the other sisters, so I wanted to continue reading the other books in the series. I loved the family and could relate to a lot of the situations and personalities of the characters. It made me feel comfortable, as if these were people I could know in real life.

Plus, it helped me brush up on my Spanish with the phrases they insert and the translations given, lol!

5. Who would you recommend this book to?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances that focus a lot on family, too. It switches points of view to both the hero and heroine in the story so you have fully developed ideas of where both parties are coming from. Plus if you enjoy reading about other cultures in America and the dynamics and customs that come with that, then this gives you an idea about Hispanic American culture.

Thank you Jess!

  1. I think it's good when authors can get people invested in an entire family like that. It's so awesome that you recommended something and she liked it! When people like books I recommend that always makes me happy. ^_^

I'm reading too many books right now. I need to pick one and finish it but I don't listen. I'm still listening to my Steve Jobs audiobook, only 6 hours left! Then I'm reading an arc from an author I like called Destiny's Dark Light about witches and such! I should get those finished by the end of the month at least. I'm also reading Mad Love, a comic novelization of DC's Harley Quinn's backstory, which I've been reading off and on for a bit. That might get done as well. The other two books are probably not getting done this month.

    1. I had a hunch Jess would like it and I'm glad she did! We met the author at the RWA signing as well!

I started a very long book--Ken Follet's Column of Fire--which will take me a good while to get through.
