IWSG February 6th
It's time for IWSG Wednesday. The Insecure Writer's Support Group posts their writerly insecurities out to the world every first Wednesday of month! Check out the group here.
February's question is:
Besides writing, what other creative outlets do you have?
Writing is my main creative outlet. Sometimes, I think it's my only creative outlet since I can't draw, can't dance and can't sing on key.
But then there's blogging, which is writing, but wayyy looser, at least for me. I've never kept a regular schedule on the blog nor have I only stuck to a narrow set of topics 'cause I'm a rule breaker like that.
I like to cook and bake--I don't cook as often as I'd like and my cooking skills are still fairly limited--as is the size of my kitchen--but I do enjoy both when I do them.
Sometimes I like to scrapbook. I have a stamp collection my grandmother left me and just last week, my mom and I decided to make a little collage with some of the stamps so we can frame it and hang it on a wall somewhere.
Lately, after watching a few episodes of Marie Kondo's Tidying Up, tidying my space has become a creative outlet lol! Trying to find effective ways of storing things--and clearing up a lot of clutter--has felt like an outlet of something.
Decluttering is great. :) I think there’s an art form to organizing stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like to pretend I has no kitchen skills because I hardly ever actually want to cook. Fortunately, I can and the thought of cooking is way worse than actually cooking. I need to stop making lasagna though...maybe. Lol!
There's definitely an art form to scrapbooking. I’ve been meaning to make one for all the pretty cards people cards people give me.
Lasagna is fun to make though. I only make it occasionally because it's time consuming, but yeah, it sells well :-)
DeleteI haven't done a scrapbook in a bit. Last one was of trips I took in 2017.
I've been decluttering the house in my mind...does that count? Lol! Honestly, I'll hit that this Spring. Baking is one of my favorites, and I often end up giving things to family, friends and neighbors too. What do you bake? (curious)
ReplyDeleteSpring cleaning! :-)
DeleteLast thing I baked was banana bread.
I need to watch Kondo. I also need to get back to scrapbooking, but my pictures need to be organized and some printed out first. That's what's holding me back.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Life gets in the way of creative outlets sometimes!
DeleteMarie Kondo's videos make me tired. LOL I know what I should do. Decluttering is not on my goal list for this month. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI went back to school last month so I wanted to declutter a bit in preparation--more organized space, more organize mind so I can focus and study.
DeleteWriting was only the beginning. :-)

I guess so
DeleteDe-cluttering feels so good! And then I let it build up again :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the bog writing too - I don't stick to schedules or rules either
That's pretty much how I am, too. Then I look around a go, "Where did all this stuff come from?"
DeleteI'm going to have to wait until after it warms up to really declutter my house. My husband is too frugal and rather than donate stuff, he wants to try to sell it first. Therefore, YARD SALE!! Ah, but it would be so nice to be rid of all the junk...
ReplyDeleteWe sell a lot of things over Amazon--books and CDs and such. And I have a huge bag of clothes to donate to the local thrift shop.
DeleteI keep telling myself I need to declutter. We have so much stuff, but the idea of doing it is daunting. I'm not very creative either, writing is pretty much it.
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to declutter. Looking at doing it when things calm down.
ReplyDeleteI've never scrapbooked but it does sound like fun. Good luck with tidying up!

"tidying my space has become a creative outlet lol! Trying to find effective ways of storing things--and clearing up a lot of clutter--has felt like an outlet of something." Totally! I do "Autumn Cleaning" every April/May :-)
